Miya – North Carolina – December 2013
Amemiya, affectionately known as Miya was taken from this world December 2013. She owned the heart of Adam G for five wonderful years, and was a loyal faithful companion and friend.
Miya had gone missing on December 5 th 2013. This was completely unlike her, as she was completely familiar with the lands and had never gone missing like this before. Adam thought that maybe someone had stolen her, but never that she was intentionally hurt.
After hundreds of dollars spent on radio advertisements, flyers, posters, and even a hunter who tracked down wounded animals – Miya was found on December 16th . She had been shot on private property by an arrow. The shot was illegal as it was not bow season in NC, and was intentional, as they ripped out the shaft but left the head in so there would be no evidence of who wounded her.
The neighbor’s property where she had been wounded was romping grounds for Miya since she was a pup, and were familiar of her sweet presence. They even stated that they did not permit any hunting whatsoever on their land. Adam received an anonymous call about two months later stating : "I shot your dog, she was digging in my trash". Whether that was a prank call or not, it was disgusting, cruel, and completely unfair.
All Adam hopes is that justice is served for his beloved little angel, Miya. Precious soul, run freely as you have touched our lives for the better.
Your presence will always be near, for you will always be in our hearts.". – J Montanio
Kodah and Mush – New York – March 2014
In 2011 we were blessed with our first Husky pup Mush. That same year we moved to our family vacation home in rural upstate NY so Becka could attend SUNY Delhi for Veterinary Science. We have 42 acres surrounding 10,000 acres of NYC Watershed land. Our closest full time neighbor is a mile away. In September 2013 we adopted our gorgeous blue eyed Kodah from the local shelter as a playmate for Mush. They were instant soul mates. I have never seen two animals that bonded so deeply and quickly.
On 02/09/14, a snowy Sunday morning, Mush and Kodah were outside frolicking in the snow. shortly thereafter they were gone. Heartbroken, we searched and searched for weeks. Used radio and flyers and organized search parties. Nothing.
On March 21 they were found 3.5 miles from home tossed in a ravine with bullet wounds in their faces. Their blaze orange collars were removed. I cannot describe how devastating this was and how it broke my daughter's spirit. This not something you can easily recuperate from. It is a crime. You become a crime victim. You are subject to ridicule from some backwoods people who blame you. Not to mention that in the dead of winter you have come to the realization that some sick person held your dogs,(who without a doubt ran up wagging their tails to say "Hello") and shot them in the face at point blank range and he lives in your area. Its disgusting and scary.
The Sheriff's investigation led to the arrest of a Jared Boice, a Delaware County employee in a supervisory position,, who said he shot them for "chasing deer". (Not a crime) He surrendered their collars. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty and dog stealing. After much ado and a petition delivered to the District Attorney with over 10,000 signatures the Grand Jury convened and the charges were upgraded to two counts of criminal mischief (Destruction of Property worth over $250) -a felony as well as the misdemeanor charges. The trial is set for October 27, 2014. However, the DA has yet to find a local breeder to testify as an expert witness as to the value of Siberians. This is key as it is the whole "Felony" case.

Keisha and Skylar – Virginia – August 2014
On August 3rd, 2014, Keisha and Skylar were shot and killed by a neighbor. He alleges that they were chasing his cow then changed his story and said he killed them because they looked like coyotes. Unfortunately, the laws protect his actions as they were on his property and he claims they' were chasing his livestock.
The family had moved into this new house only one week prior to their death. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
